Curitiba city has taken part in the Computers for Inclusion program, a project in partnership with the federal government promoting environmental awareness and training young people to work on computer maintenance and refurbishment.
In addition to promoting the reconditioning of used computers, the objective is to create new points of digital inclusion and increase the environmental awareness of the population with campaigns on electronic waste. The program has already trained 960 young people aged 14 to 29 in Curitiba.
Included in the concept of circular economy, the program allows the entire chain to be covered – from the donation of the computer used by the federal government, the sorting of equipment, the reconditioning to be reused, the separation of parts and unused parts to be destined to cooperatives. recycling electronic waste, even donating repaired machines to social organizations.
In addition to correctly disposing of electronic waste, the program has the benefit of training young people from practical classes in the refurbishment laboratory, the Computer Refurbishment Center (CRC).
As part of the restructuring of the Liceu de Oficinas program in Curitiba, the City Hall created a space in the Liceu do Campo Comprido to operate the CRC.
