Vejle Pilot nominated for the Danish Waste Association’s World Goal Award 2020

Danish Waste Association award

In connection with the Danish Waste Association’s political conference on 5 October the association’s world goal prize is handed out. The award recognises efforts that move in the area of ??waste in relation to the world goals. In this connection, Vejle Municipality is on the nomination list, which counts 6 settings.

The REFLOW Vejle pilot is developing new strategies for recycling and alternatives to plastic. The project has received a nomination based on the project’s analysis work in Vejles Vestby, citizen and business involvement and support of the municipality’s policies and strategies.

Chairman of Nature and Environment Committee Karl Erik Lund, stated:

“On behalf of the committee/city council, I am proud of the nomination, which supports our ambitions to work purposefully in the climate and environmental area. REFLOW is a visible example of how the world’s goals are best achieved through partnerships, where the project brings together politicians, citizens, companies, professionals and the national plastics centre.”

REFLOW is an EU project in collaboration with the Danish Design Center and CBS in Denmark as well as a number of international cities and partners, which will promote a circular economy in various resource areas, including Vejle who is working on the plastics area.

The nomination sees Vejle municipality as a great recognition of the project’s work, which, however, like much else, has had its difficulties under COVID-19, but which continues until 2022.

Project coordinator Ann Louise Slot, says

“The nomination from the Danish Waste Association definitely boosts our sense that we are on the right track. Whether we win or not is not the most important thing, but recognition alone by being nominated means a lot to all parties involved and puts Vejle – and not least Vejle Vestby – on the map. ”

REFLOW is an EU Horizon 2020 project. Vejle was selected as a pilot city together with, among others, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam. Read more about the REFLOW pilot here here and follow Vejle’s activities on Facebook.
