  • Six pilot cities across Europe have been engaged to test approaches to circular economy,  each focusing on a different resource flow
  • The Cities’ Circular Action Plan will share the outcomes and insights developed with six Pilot cities, to foster adoption of circular economy (CE) strategies and activities across Europe.
  • Circular Economy practices can provide cities with the opportunity for economic, social and environmental benefit.

The Cities’ Circular Action Plan

REFLOW, a Horizon 2020 project aimed at co-creating circular and regenerative resource flows in cities, has completed a crucial milestone thanks to a collective effort, led by CBS, involving the different partners in the project. The Cities’ Circular Action Plan (CCAP) seeks to

facilitate the adoption of circular economy (CE) strategies and activities. It is a living document comprising resources for individuals, citizens’ associations, municipalities and other agencies.

Gathering the competences of the 28-strong partners it presents viable ways for cities to implement CE practices and ensure replicability. It provides an overview of the? first year of the project which describes the evolution of Action Plans, that have been devised by six Pilot Cities at the beginning of the project.

Six pilot cities across Europe have been engaged to test approaches to city circularity, each focusing on a different resource flow (textiles, residual-heat, energy, food, temporary structures and plastic). The CCAP acts as a project roadmap for the specific actions to be undertaken by each Pilot city. It will culminate in an overview of all local activities that aim to achieve pilot-specific objectives and will also gather the?resources necessary for other Cities in Europe and beyond to start the transition towards a Circular Economy.

The next steps

The Cities’ Circular Action Plan report is available on the REFLOW website and will be adapted as an accessible resource online, which will evolve and update with content as the project unfolds. The living and iterative platform will be accessible along with further project information at Reflowproject.eu.
